ZEUS : SERVICES : NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE Any integrated eCommerce solution rests upon the foundation of a well designed network architecture. Zeus Consulting's network engineers are experienced and certified to do the work in the following areas:
- MCSE: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Cisco Routing: Our network engineers have built networks from scratch using multi-vendor products including Cisco, Foundry, F-5, 3com, and various others. We have experience connecting multi-protocol, multi-speed, and multi-subnetted networks to create hierarchically structured networks, each with their own security and purpose. Some of our capabilities in this area include: - OSPF - configure ospf in P2P (point to point), P2M (point to multipoint), NBMA (non broadcast multi-access), and BMA (broadcast multi-access) environments - EIGRP - configure Cisco proprietary routing protocol in P2P, P2M, NBMA, and BMA environments - BGP - configure internal and external BGP, within and between autonomous systems. Setup full mesh environments or reduced overhead traffic environments using partial mesh by way of confederations and route reflectors. Implementing policy routing using prefix-lists, distribute-lists, and communities. And simplifying group administration using peer groups. - Configure redistribution between routing protocols for heterogeneous routing protocol environments - Setup packet filtering (access-list, extended access-list) and NAT on Cisco routers - Setup and configure VPN tunnels between routers for secure transfer of data Cisco Switching: The explosive growth of Internet and e-commerce activity has caused hampered productivities and decreased agility for many businesses. These companies now require that their networks scale from providing basic connectivity to supporting strategic Internet business applications, such as supply chain management, B2B and B2C e-commerce, customer relationship management, and enterprise application integration, as well as accommodating additional voice and video traffic. Cisco's switching technology now provides layer 2 (for bridging), layer 3 (for routing), and layer 4 (for firewalling and quality of service) solutions to solve these problems. Our capabilities in the arena are the following: - VLANs to overcome restrictions and limitations that existing LANs currently experience by providing increased scalability, increased security, and control of broadcast domains - STP (spanning tree protocol) to prevent bridging loops that cause unnecessary traffic and longer convergence times - MLS (multi-layer switching) to help expedite the flow of traffic and alleviate cpu utilization on the router by performing a "route once, switch many" approach - Link Aggregation to bundle and couple multiple links between switches into one virtual link for increased bandwidth and to provide fault tolerance - QoS and CoS for creating priority data flow exchange to deliver high-priority traffic in a predictable manner and to drop low-priority traffic in times of congestion High Availability: While much focus is placed on the importance of availability of high-volume eCommerce sites, the importance of availability extends down to the company's file server and email systems. When a system goes down, it affects somebody, and downtime is just no fun. Today, computer systems are deemed vital to a company's success in the e-commerce arena and are therefore expected to be up 24x7x365. Even downtime for routine maintenance is sometimes unacceptable. If someone wants to purchase a product from your site at 4am and your site is unavailable, that customer will drift to your competitor's site. With this 24-7 expectation comes the realization that redundancy, fail-over, and disaster recovery are necessary to achieve this goal. After the initial investment of your hardware, you must decide what level of availability you need and can afford - redundancy, system fail-over, or disaster recovery. But remember that the law of diminishing returns applies here as well - there is a point at which no matter how much money you invest in high availability, the cost to benefit ratio becomes impractical. Zeus Consulting has deployed the following solutions to ensure uptime of critical systems: - Setup and configure load balancing between multiple servers utilizing F5 Networks BigIP, Foundry ServerIron XL, Cisco Local Director, and Cisco's CSS Content Switches - Setup and configure Checkpoint FW-1/VPN-1 and Cisco PIX firewalls for hot-standby fail-over - Setup and configure fail-over between load balancers - Setup and configure BGP between autonomous systems, and define variable administrative distances for path redundancy - Setup and configure HSRP, hot standby routing protocol, for fail-over between Cisco routers and switches in multi vlan environments - Setup various levels of RAID: Raid 1 (Mirroring), and Raid 5 (Striping with Parity) for harddrive and data redundancy and provide recommendations for backup solutions |
